Ingredients

  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 40 ounces ravioli frozen - 2 packages
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded - divided

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9x13 casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Spread about a cup of the marinara sauce over the bottom of the casserole dish to create a thin layer.
  • Arrange an even layer of frozen ravioli over the top of the marinara.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the ricotta, parmesan, egg, seasoning, salt, and pepper, and 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese until well blended.
  • Drop dollops of the ricotta mixture over the ravioli and then spread it out as evenly as possible. Sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of mozzarella cheese over the top.
  • Drizzle with half of the remaining marinara sauce.
  • Repeat the layers of ravioli, ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese, and marinara sauce.
  • Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the casserole from the oven and remove the aluminum foil. Top the casserole with any remaining mozzarella cheese.
  • Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
