These flavorful Hawaiian Baked Beans are easy to make and a fantastic side dish for any potluck, BBQ, or weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 60 ounces pork and beans - 4 cans
  • 1 cup bacon - cooked & chopped
  • ½ red onion chopped
  • green bell pepper chopped - small
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • 20 ounces crushed pineapple drained

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine the pork and beans, cooked bacon, red onion, bell pepper, brown sugar, garlic salt, smoked paprika, liquid smoke, BBQ sauce, and crushed pineapple in a large bowl.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Transfer to a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Bake for 1 ½ hours until bubbly and thickened.
  • You can garnish with more bacon, scallions, and pineapple rings at the 1-hour mark if you like.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • You can use your favorite BBQ sauce.
  • You can use pineapple tidbits if you prefer.
  • I like to use green bell peppers in this dish but you can use red if you like.
  • You can also make these in the slow cooker and cook for 4-6 hours on low.
