Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter - unsalted
  • ½ cup onion finely diced
  • 1 tbsp garlic finely minced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half or milk
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme finely chopped - or 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 ½ cups ham diced
  • 1 cup swiss cheese grated
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 frozen deep dish pie crust

Serving

Chives, chopped, optional

Green onions, chopped, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter.
  • Add the onions and cook until the onions are tender, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the garlic and cook 30-60 seconds or until fragrant.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly while you prepare the filling.
  • In a large bowl, whisk the eggs until lightly beaten.
  • Add the half-and-half, thyme, salt, and pepper and whisk until combined.
  • Stir in the onion mixture, ham, and cheese.
  • Pour the filling mixture into the pie crust.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Serve warm or chilled with garnishes, if desired.
