Over the years I have met some amazing people through this blog. Some were in my life for a short time & then there are others that I have grown to know on a deeper level since way back in the day when I had just a few followers. I am so incredibly grateful for these wonderful angels the Lord has brought into my life.
One, in particular, is Danelle from Let’s Dish Recipes. We “met” so long ago through our photography blogs & have continued to grow our friendship over the years. Danelle helped me with my 7 Days of Memory Making – Holiday Recipe Series last year while we were moving cross-country.

It’s incredible how some can be such a fulfilling part of your life – even when you have never met them in person. Danelle is so special. I feel so blessed to know her & to have her posting here today. Please give a nice warm welcome to Danelle!
I don’t know how long Gina and I have been blog friends, but sometimes I forget that we’ve never met in “real life.” Our kids are about the same age, and I’m incredibly grateful for her firefighter husband, who came to Colorado a few summers ago to fight the High Park Fire, which burned about 20 miles from home.
And of course, you can’t be grateful for first responders without being grateful for their families, who sacrifice so much so they can do their jobs. So, to make a long story short, I just love Gina and I’m thrilled to be sharing a fun recipe on her blog today.

Here are some commonly asked questions
What is a white chocolate peppermint pretzel?
A white chocolate peppermint pretzel is a type of candy that is made by combining melted white chocolate with crushed peppermint candy. This combination is then used to coat pretzels, creating a delicious and festive treat.
What is the best way to store white chocolate peppermint pretzels?
We recommend storing these in an airtight container or resealable bag at room temperature. Refrigeration is not ideal as the pretzels will become soft in the humid environment.
How long do chocolate-covered pretzels last?
These delectable treats will remain fresh for as long as the pretzels do. Keeping them in an airtight container when you’re not serving them will enable maximum shelf-life. I’ve had these last up to a month before they went bad.
The chocolate itself will last quite a while, so the issue really comes down to how long you can keep the pretzels from going stale. Keep in mind that the mini twists will probably last longer than the rods since they are completely covered in the chocolate vs the rods that are only half-dipped.
Ingredients for White Chocolate Peppermint Pretzels
- mini pretzel twists
- white chocolate candy melts
- finely crushed peppermint candy
What kind of chocolate is used for white chocolate peppermint pretzels?
We adore candy melts because not only are they made from a unique combination of ingredients that allows the chocolate to melt quickly and smoothly – but an extensive range of colors is available.
These can also be made using any variety of chocolate chips. Keep in mind that chocolate chips are specially formulated to hold their shape even when heated.
So, if you decide to use them in place of the candy melts, you will need to add a bit of shortening or coconut oil to the bowl when melting the chips. This helps them to turn into a smooth, velvety texture that is perfect for dipping.
How to Make White Chocolate Peppermint Pretzels
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate at 50% power for 1 minute; stir.
- Return the bowl to the microwave for 30-second intervals (still at 50% power) until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
- Using a fork, or a chocolate dipping set, dip the pretzels in the melted white chocolate, flip the pretzel to coat.
- Tap the fork on side of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate.
- Place the coated pretzels on wax paper or parchment paper.
- Sprinkle the crushed peppermint on top.
- Let set at room temperature until the chocolate has hardened.
Why didn’t my chocolate wafers melt correctly?
When your chocolate wafers become chunky rather than creamy, it is said that the chocolate is seized. This is typically due to overheating or contact with water or steam.
In the first case, the chocolate is just burning from excess heat, but in the second case, there is a negative reaction between the chocolate (which is waxy and has many oils that are hydrophobic, or “water-fearing”) and the water, causing the components of the chocolate to separate.
Be sure to refer to the package directions when melting chocolate to prevent this from happening.
What are some creative ways to use white chocolate peppermint pretzels?
-Use them as a topping for ice cream or yogurt
-Crush them up and use them as a pie or cheesecake filling
-Incorporate them into cookie recipes
-Make white chocolate peppermint pretzel bark by combining the pretzels with other ingredients like nuts, dried fruit, or marshmallows.
How far in advance can you make white chocolate pretzel rods?
You can make white chocolate pretzel rods up to 2 weeks in advance. Store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

- When making the melted chocolate it is okay to use white chocolate chips or almond bark instead of the candy melts. Just know that you will need to add coconut oil or shortening to the bowl or double boiler when melting the chocolate.
- Try mixing some additional peppermint candy pieces into the melted chocolate before dipping the pretzels.
- This recipe will also work using peppermint pretzel crisps making this the perfect combination of salty and sweet.
- Wrap these up in a plastic bag or cellophane bag for a lovely homemade gift of holiday snacks.
- This can also be made using traditional pretzels.
- Always start with premium ingredients making sure that your pretzels are fresh and the chocolate is new and has not bloomed yet.
- We love this tasty snack using pretzel crackers, and crunchy pretzel crisps.
- Try using a rolling pin to crush the peppermint pieces.
- Once they are coated – you can crush them and use these holiday pretzels as a garnish for a white cake frosted with white chocolate buttercream. It makes for the perfect holiday treat.
