Origins of Margaritas
The margarita is a Mexican cocktail that has been around since the early 1900s. The exact origins of the drink are unclear, but it is believed to have been invented in either Mexico City or Tijuana.
The most popular theory is that the margarita was created by a bartender named Francisco “Pancho” Morales. Morales is said to have invented the drink in 1938 at a bar in Tijuana. However, there is no concrete evidence to support this claim.
Another theory suggests that the margarita was actually invented by a different Francisco – Francisco “Pancho” Lopez. Lopez was a bartender who worked in Juarez, Mexico. He is said to have created the margarita in 1941, and the drink quickly became popular with American tourists.
Whatever its origins, the margarita is now a staple of Mexican cuisine. It is one of the most popular cocktails in the world, and it shows no signs of slowing down. So, next time you’re in the mood for a refreshing drink, be sure to give a margarita a try!
