Slow Cooker Bacon Split Pea Soup, another easy family dinner idea! Take the guesswork out of the meal prep! Loaded with ham & bacon, this soup is delicious!
I love the ease of meal prep this time of year. It seems I almost always have leftovers from meals, which means I can make some super simple slow cooker recipes to keep us warm on these chilly winter days. One of my favorite recipes is our Slow Cooker Bacon Split Pea Soup because it’s a great way to use that leftover ham from holiday celebrations. It’s super easy & it means we have something hearty at the end of a long day.
Slow Cooker Bacon Split Pea Soup
You see, all month long these two things are a staple in our kitchen. Signature Spiral Sliced Ham & Thick Cut bacon from Smithfield. We really love bacon & enjoy it at least several times per week. But during the holidays we make ham often for all our gatherings. So that means I have a lot of leftovers & I’m always coming up with creative ways to use it. No holiday table is complete without a Smithfield Signature Spiral Sliced Ham! A lot of people don’t realize how easy ham is to prepare – just pop it in the oven at 275 degrees for about 10 – 12 minutes per pound, then evenly brush on the tasty glaze and you’re done. Not only is Smithfield Signature Spiral Sliced Ham delicious and easy to make, but it’s versatile and convenient! You can serve it as-is for the centerpiece of your dinner, and use every last bit of the ham by incorporating leftover slices into delicious appetizers or your favorite brunch recipe the next morning.
Split Pea Soup is one of my all-time favorites. We have a handful of recipes we have worked through over the years, but the one that gets made most often is our slow cooker version. But my absolute favorite is when we started adding bacon along with our ham. Oh boy, it’s so delicious. I rarely have seconds of anything but this one keeps me coming back for sure.
