Notes for Making the Best Pretzel Dogs
- Lightly coat hands with oil to manage the sticky dough easier.
- If using hot dogs that plump, be aware of wrapping the dough around them too tightly as the hotdogs may burst the dough as they cook.
- Try using everything but the bagel seasoning as a topper instead of the sesame/poppy seeds for additional flavor.
- These are delicious on their own but fun for dipping in ketchup or mustard or both!

- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper, and set it aside.
- Remove the sausages/hot dogs from their package and dry them with a paper towel. Set aside.
- In a medium microwaveable bowl, add the mozzarella cheese and the cream cheese. Microwave on high for 90 seconds and stir. The cheese should be completely melted, cook for an additional 20 seconds if needed.
- Add the melted cheese to a food processor with the egg and process until smooth.
- Add the almond flour and baking soda, and process it until you have a sticky dough (it will be very sticky).
- Scrape the dough onto a piece of parchment paper and divide it into 8 even pieces to be rolled into small balls.
- Using one ball at a time, roll the dough into a long rope, approximately 12”.
- Begin rounding the rope around the length of the sausage/hot dog, leaving about ½” of meat visible on each end. Place on a prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining sausages/hot dogs.
- Add the toppings.

How to Make Pretzel Dogs
- Remove the hot dogs from packing and set them aside, you want the hot dogs dry.
- Remove the rolls from the can and flatten each group of rolls by unrolling but not separating the group of rolls. Pinch close the perforations. Place between two sheets of parchment and roll flat to 1/8” thick.
- Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the dough into strips. Make the strips un-uniform between 1/8” to 1/4” wide.
- Wrap each hot dog in using the strips of dough. The dough will expand slightly so beware of too much bunching or overlapping. The hot dog should be visible throughout.
- Place on the baking sheet and add the toppings.

- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and poppy seeds if desired.
