How to Make Air-Fried Cheeseburger Egg Rolls

Add the ground beef to a medium-sized skillet set over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring often until the meat is browned– about 5 minutes.
Drain the grease and then add the garlic powder, paprika, and salt to the beef.
Stir to combine and then set the browned beef aside until it is cool enough to handle (you don’t want it to melt the cheese)– about 10 minutes.
Add the cooled beef to a large bowl along with the cheese, green onion, and pickles. Stir to combine.
Add about ¼ cup of filling to the center of one egg roll wrapper.
Beat the egg in a small bowl with a splash of water to create an egg wash. Brush the egg wash around the edges of the egg roll wrapper to create a seal.

Roll the wrapper into an egg roll (the same way you could roll a burrito) by folding the bottom point over the filling, then folding the left and right points into the center, and finally by rolling it upward to seal.

I used 80/20 ground beef– but you could also use ground chicken or ground turkey if you prefer.
Garlic powder, paprika, and salt help season the meat so it really tastes like a grilled cheeseburger! Feel free to swap 1 tablespoon of your favorite burger seasoning if you prefer.
Cheddar cheese is my classic go-to cheese for burgers so that’s what I’m using here. Feel free to use any cheese you like.
Green onions add a subtle, onion flavor. If you prefer sweet or red onions, feel free to use those instead!
Dill pickles add a bit of acidity and saltiness to help balance out the fat of the egg rolls. Feel free to leave them out or substitute sweet or spicy pickles.
Egg roll wrappers are a thin, wonton-like sheet of dough that you can find near the tofu in most grocery stores! You could also use wonton wrappers for mini egg rolls.
The egg helps seal the egg rolls and creates a crisp golden brown exterior.
You can use relish in place of the chopped pickles.

We actually have 3 air fryers. I have a smaller one from Phillips that we started with. I have since given that to my son since he’s only cooking for 1.

Medium

But the more I used the air fryer I realized I really wanted a digital screen. It wasn’t any more expensive, in fact- our XL air fryer from GoWISE was less expensive than the Phillips and I love its ease & extra functions.

Plus it comes with a lot of the extra accessories I like to use when cooking with my fryer.

Large

But I when I started working on my second air fryer book, I wanted to change things up. I picked up this LARGE air fryer that has been wonderful. It has Touch Screen Presets plus it is XL Family Size, which is great!

1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

I have not tried it with guacamole because the texture isn’t smooth. The idea is that the water creates a layer that keeps air from getting to the avocado – which is what turns it brown. I would imagine if you tried to add a layer of water to the top of a bowl of guacamole, it would dilute and ruin it.

You could try just spraying the top of it with a mist of water and then placing the plastic wrap directly on top. If you give this a try – please let me know how it worked.

My dough didn’t rise, what happened?

Most of the time this means your water was either too hot or too cold. If it is too hot it will kill the yeast, too cold & it just won’t rise. I find that using a thermometer helps & bringing the water to 115-125 degrees is best.

What is the best yeast?

You can use rapid rise, premium, or whatever you have on hand. I buy my yeast in the bulk section of my store, so it’s not brand-name or anything fancy & it works just great.

How to Make No-Knead Dinner Rolls

Working in a warm room, combine the warm water, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl. Stir to combine.
Add the yeast and stir until dissolved.
With a wooden spoon or with a mixer using the dough hook, mix in the flour, scraping down as needed, until fully incorporated.
Cover the bowl and allow it to rise at room temperature for 45 minutes.
Prepare a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or lightly grease it with cooking oil.

Make sure you are properly measuring the flour. Don’t scoop packed flour from the bag. This will result in dense, overly dry rolls. Spoon and level the flour and then add more (a little at a time) if needed. You can always add more, you can’t take it away once it is added.
Try using salted butter for more added flavor.

Make sure you let the dough rise in a warm place. Because we live in north Idaho, I will often set the bowl near the woodstove, or wrap it with an electric blanket to keep the dough nice and warm. I have seen warming mats for making bread rolls on places like Amazon. I have found that the electric blanket works quite well and is a fraction of the cost.
These can be made ahead and baked the next day.
It is not necessary to line the baking pan with parchment paper prior to baking.

For the Best Results

Try to make the dough balls uniform in size so that they are equal pieces and all bake evenly.
I have not tried this with bread flour, so please let me know if you give that a try.
This can be made in a large bowl – no stand mixer is required.

I like to use Instant Yeast to make the dough extra springy.
The warm water can be replaced with warm milk but please make sure it is still at optimal temperature. Anything above 125 degrees will kill the yeast and the dough will not rise. Please don’t use hot water. I recommend an instant-read thermometer for accuracy.
Cool these easy yeast rolls on a cooling rack in the pan. Then transfer them to a bread basket for serving this easy dinner rolls recipe at your holiday table.

To make sure these soft dinner rolls stay soft, store them in a freezer bag.
If you end up with shaggy dough or sticky dough, add additional flour a little at a time.

1 ½ cups water warm – between 115-125 degrees
2 tablespoons butter melted
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet )
4 cups all-purpose flour
⅓ cup butter melted

Instructions

Working in a warm room, combine the warm water, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl. Stir to combine.
Add the yeast and stir until dissolved.
With a wooden spoon or with a mixer using the dough hook, mix in the flour, scraping down as needed, until fully incorporated.
Cover the bowl and allow it to rise at room temperature for 45 minutes.
Prepare a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or lightly grease it with cooking oil.
Punch the dough down and transfer it to a lightly floured, smooth surface.
Form or fold the dough into a rectangle and cut it into 12 equal portions.
Shape each portion into a ball and place it into the prepared baking pan.
Cover loosely and allow to rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.

How can I prevent the cake from getting stuck inside the pan?

You should make sure that you grease your pan really well with a flour and grease/cooking-spray mixture to keep the cake from sticking. The ridges in the pan are most susceptible to this and they are the most delicate parts of the cake.

Make sure that you really work your grease into these crevices for the best results. I recommend using Baker’s Release.

What is bakers release?

Bakers release is a combination of oil, flour, and shortening that makes releasing cakes and other baked goods almost effortless.

To make Bakers Release – it is as simple as 1,1 & 1.

equal parts of all-purpose flour, shortening, and cooking oil – I like to do 1 cup of each.

Mix the ingredients together – whisking well. Store in an airtight container in the pantry or refrigerator. When ready to use, dip a pastry brush into the mixture and spread it over the cake pan.

When the holidays come around we love to get in the kitchen and bake. Often times we stick to our classic cookie favorites and then add in a handful of new recipes.

Most of the time we find really good, classic recipes that have been forgotten about in the bottom of grandma’s old recipe tin. These Mexican Wedding Cookies are one of those that we are so happy to have found.

While this recipe is a spin off of our super easy snowball cookies – with the end result being quite similar, this recipe is as classic as it gets.

I know you’ll love them as much as we do. You holiday cookie platter won’t be complete with out them.

confectioner’s sugar

How to Make Mexican Wedding Cookies

In a small mixing bowl, combine the flour, and finely chopped pecans. Set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl, cream the butter and the 1/3 cup confectioner’s sugar with an electric hand or stand mixer. Beat for 2 minutes; Add vanilla and mix well.
Stir in by hand, the flour and nut mixture. Mix just until combined. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for 20 minutes in the refrigerator.
Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare the baking sheet with parchment paper.
Using a cookie scoop, roll each scoop into a ball shape and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly browned on the bottom. Do not over bake.
When cookies are cool enough to handle, around 2 minutes out of the oven, gently roll them in the confectioner’s sugar and place them on a cooling rack to cool. After the cookies have cooled, roll the cookies a second time in the confectioner’s sugar.

Making the cookies ahead of time

Yes, you can make these cookies ahead of time. I recommend that you make the dough up until the chilling point. Then keep the rolled dough in the fridge until you are ready to make them.

Then bake and roll in the sugar. I do not recommend refrigerating the baked and sugar-coated cookies. The sugar does not do well in the cool and damp climate of the refrigerator.

What is the difference between Mexican wedding cookies and polvorones?

Polvorones are a type of Mexican wedding cookie that is made with flour, sugar, butter, and nuts. They are usually round or oval in shape and have a sandy texture.

What is the best way to store leftover cookies?

The easiest way is to place in a large airtight container & store at room temperature. I like a large plastic bowl with a lid or a zip-top bag works great too.

Use a food processor or hand-held chopper to finely chop the walnuts.
You can use unsalted butter in place of salted, if desired; add 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Try using walnuts instead of pecans.
If the dough seems dry and does not hold together in the shape of a round ball in your hand, simply add water to the dough. Start with 1/2 tablespoon till you can roll the ball without it being crumbly.
Doing more or less of the chopped nuts and flour will affect the texture of the cookie.
Store in an airtight container, at room temperature, for up to one week.
Freeze the cookie dough for up to 3 months. Do it before the cookies are coated in the sugar. Thaw in the fridge and then proceed with the baking directions above.

1¾ cups all-purpose flour

2 cauliflower heads
2 tbsps olive oil
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt

Instructions

Snip the cauliflower heads down to bite size pieces using kitchen scissors or a knife.
Place them in a large mixing bowl.
Drizzle the florets with the oil and cover with the spices. Toss the cauliflower around in the bowl to get a nice and even coating.
Place the cauliflower in the air fryer basket evenly.
Cook at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Toss the cauliflower well and cook for another 8-10 minutes.
Let them cool and serve.

Notes

Pre-cut cauliflower works just as well as fresh cauliflower, saving you some time. Just make sure it is fresh cauliflower.
Frozen cauliflower has a little different approach when cooked in the air fryer.
Feel free to add more seasoning to the cauliflower or none at all. This is just a great starting point if you are new to air-frying veggies.

This recipe will still work with low-fat cream cheese. But keep in mind that the creamy cheesecake texture comes from the fat. So the final recipe probably won’t have the same consistency if you are substituting ingredients.

Can this be made with a no-bake cheesecake filling?

I have not made this recipe by subbing in a no-bake cheesecake filling. So I can’t say definitively that it would work, but I can’t see why not.

I do have this no-bake pecan pie cheesecake that could be used – but it may or may not be too much filling for this crust recipe. It may just be easier to make that recipe instead of trying to adapt this one.

Yes, you can freeze Pecan Pie Cheesecake Bars. To do so, wrap them tightly in cling wrap and place them in a freezer-safe container. They will keep in the freezer for up to two months. When you are ready to eat them, thaw them overnight in the refrigerator.

Can I make this with a cookie crust instead?

Of course. Just combine 1-1/2 cups finely ground cookie crumbs with the other crumb ingredients and toss with a fork until all the crumbs are moist.

Then press firmly into the bottom of the pan. These are great with an Oreo crust and also with a Vanilla Wafer crust.

What to do if you can’t find corn syrup

You can replace the corn syrup with 1/2 cup of sugar dissolved in 2 tbsp of water.

How to Make Pecan Pie Cheesecake Bars

Prepare a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper. Spritz the paper with nonstick cooking spray.

Crust:

Place the graham crackers and sugar into a food processor. Pulse until the crackers are finely ground.
Add the melted butter and pulse again until the butter is evenly incorporated.
Press the graham cracker mixture into the prepared baking dish. Set aside.

Cheesecake layer:

Beat the cream cheese at medium speed until light and creamy.
Add the sour cream and continue beating until well blended, scraping down the sides as needed.
Add the sugar, eggs, and flour, beating until combined and smooth.
Pour the cheesecake mixture over the crust and spread evenly. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Pecan pie layer

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Yes, you can make the graham cracker crust without a food processor. To do so, you will need to finely crush the graham crackers by hand. You can also use a rolling pin to crush the crackers.

Once they are finely crushed, mix them with the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Then press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of the pan.

When the weather starts to turn a bit brisk, I am immediately ready for some classic comfort food. This easy chicken pot pie is one of my favorite comfort foods to make once the leaves start to fall.

While there are plenty of pre-packaged versions at the grocery store, there is nothing quite like a homemade chicken pot pie. The juicy chicken and crisp veggies are enveloped in a creamy sauce and wrapped in a savory, flaky crust — it’s like a big, warm hug on a plate.

Some comfort foods can be time-consuming (I’m looking at you, lasagna) but this easy recipe comes together quickly. It has minimal prep time and since you’re only using one pan on the stovetop, cleanup is done in no time.

The next time you’re looking for a simple chicken pot pie recipe with all the classic flavors, try this one. I guarantee your whole family will be asking for seconds (or more!).

Tips For The Best Chicken Pot Pie

To save time, use frozen vegetables — just warm them slightly in the microwave before adding them to the pot pie.
Placing the pie plate on a baking sheet before putting it in the oven to bake may make it easier to remove.
Make sure that once the milk is added the filling becomes entirely smooth — you don’t want to have to deal with whisking out lumps after you’ve added the chicken and vegetables.
If you want a shiny crust, try mixing an egg with a bit of milk or water to make an egg wash. Then, use a pastry brush to spread it over the top layer of crust before baking.

How to Make Chicken Pot Pie

Press 1 layer of the crust into the bottom of the prepared pie plate or casserole dish. Trim any excess dough around the edge.
In a large saucepan or skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, ensuring not to overheat it.
Next, gently stir the onions into the melted butter. Be sure not to caramelize the onions — they should be soft and translucent.
Remove the onions and butter from the heat.
Then, gradually add the flour while stirring the onions and butter. The mixture will remain slightly lumpy.
Season the flour mixture with salt and pepper and stir to fully incorporate all ingredients.
Next, slowly add the chicken broth while continuously stirring.
Once the broth is incorporated, add the milk.
Place the pot back on the stove. Bring it to a boil while constantly stirring.
Once the mixture has begun to boil, reduce the heat and allow it to simmer while continuing to stir. The mixture should become thick enough to coat a spoon.
Add the vegetables and the chopped chicken to the pan and stir until all ingredients are coated and well combined.
Gently pour the filling over the top of the crust in the pan.
Cut small slits into the second crust to allow for steam to escape during cooking.
Place the upper crust on top and seal the edges. Using a fork to crimp will help the edges to adhere and to remain sealed while cooking.
Next, use foil to cover just the edges of the crust.
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before serving.

Chicken pot pie is a hearty, complete meal all on its own but you can easily add some savory (or slightly sweet) sides to dress it up.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425°F.
Line a 9-inch pie plate with 1 layer of crust, trimming the excess around the edge if necessary. Set aside.
Melt the butter in a large saucepan or skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until soft and translucent (about 1-2 minutes).
Remove from the heat and add the flour, salt, and pepper; stir well.
Add the chicken broth very slowly, stirring constantly until smooth; mix in the milk. Return to the stove and cook over medium heat until it boils; stirring constantly.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 1 minute longer while continuing to stir (mixture should be thick). Remove from the heat.
Mix in the vegetables and chopped chicken until well combined.
Pour the filling into the crust.
Before adding the top crust, cut slits in the dough for ventilation, then add that layer of the crust over the filling. Seal the edges of the crust by crimping with a fork or fold the top edges under the bottom crust and press them together to seal tightly. To prevent the edges of the crust from burning, cover only the edges with a ring of tin foil.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 or 10 minutes to cool. Slice and serve.

Notes

If the edges of your pot pie aren’t browning enough due to the tinfoil, remove the tinfoil for the last 5-10 minutes of baking.
The butter mixture will be lumpy after adding the flour, but it will smooth out after adding the chicken broth and milk.
To save time, use frozen mixed veggies and warm them in the microwave.
Cut slits in the top of the pie crust to let steam escape.

You may end up with really light white lines in between each layer due to the whipped cream settling in each layer.

There’s really no way around this unless you skip the whipped cream, but the whipped cream helps define each layer since they give a transparent color otherwise and the orange does taint both the white and yellow layers.

CAN I MAKE JELLO SHOTS IN ADVANCE?

Yes, you can make jello shots several days in advance. Simply prepare the jello according to the recipe instructions, then pour it into your shot glasses and refrigerate until ready to serve.

CAN I USE A DIFFERENT ALCOHOL IN MY JELLO SHOTS?

Yes, you can use any type of alcohol in your jello shots. However, we recommend using vodka, rum, or tequila as they mix well with the jello and provide a smooth flavor. Just don’t increase the measurements as it will keep the jello from setting.

HOW DO I GET THE JELLO SHOTS OUT OF THE SHOT GLASSES?

To remove the jello shots from the shot glasses, simply run a sharp knife around the edge of each glass and then invert it onto a plate. The jello shots should easily come out of the glasses.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE JELLO SHOTS?

Jello shots can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days as long as you have them properly covered. However, we recommend consuming them within 24 hours for the best flavor.

How to Make Candy Corn Jello Shots

White Layer

Add the vodka for the white layer to a medium mixing bowl.
Pour the gelatin packets over the top and give it a light mix to ensure all of the powder gets wet.
Leave the gelatin to sit until bloomed.
Pour the boiling water over the top and mix until fully dissolved.
Add the simple syrup and give it a slight stir.
Add the whipped cream and whisk until fully combined. Do your best to not whisk hard as you don’t want it to become too foamy.
Using an injector or pourable measuring glass, fill each shot cup to about a third full.
Place them in the fridge on an even surface for about an hour or until set.

Orange Layer

When the white layer is almost set, add the orange jello to a medium mixing bowl and add the boiling water.
Stir until dissolved and add the vodka and cold water. Stir.
Add the whipped cream and lightly whisk until combined.
Let the jello sit and cool down a bit more as the white layer finishes setting. About 15 minutes.
Using the injector or pourable measuring cup again, fill the shot glasses another third of the way with the orange jello mixture.
Chill for another hour or until set.

Yellow Layer

Repeat steps 9-14 for the yellow layer.
Once the yellow layer has fully chilled, top it with a dollop of whipped cream and some candy corn, and enjoy!

CAN I MAKE MY SHOTS IN SMALLER SHOT GLASSES?

Yes, you can make your shots in smaller shot glasses if you prefer. Simply adjust the amount you add to each accordingly.

Yes, you can make jello shots with fruit punch by substituting the fruit punch for the cold water in the recipe.

I use a basic Wilton 1M frosting tip and a disposable frosting bag to put a dollop of whipped cream on top of the shots. You can find it or a similar tip at most grocery stores such as Walmart.
Do not garnish the shots if you’re not serving them right away. If you garnish them and then stick them in the fridge, the whipped cream gets stiff and the candy gets sticky and chewy. It’s gross. They’re quick and easy to garnish, so fancy them up right before serving.
If using glass shot glasses, you might provide mini spoons to serve the shots with as you won’t be able to loosen the sides of the shot like you might in a typical plastic shot cup.
These can be made ahead and should last for at least two days, uncovered in the fridge. However, if they’re covered well, they will last about 5 days. Do not freeze.
You can use smaller shot glasses or cups, and you will get more shots out of this mixture. Each color just gets a third of the glass you use. It’s a pretty easy transition.

Yes, this cake does fine when it is frozen. Be sure to cover it or wrap it tightly in a freezer-safe wrap and thaw completely before serving. Typically I try to keep the loaf whole if I plan to freeze so that the inside doesn’t dry out. But if you wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, then in foil, and then place it in a zip-top bag, a cut loaf should do fine in the freezer.

Can You Make Pumpkin Pound Cake With Canned Pumpkin? Fresh Pumpkin?

You can make this pumpkin cake with either canned pumpkin or cooked fresh pumpkin. Make sure you are using pumpkin puree and NOT pumpkin pie filling because they are not the same thing.

I stock up on cans of Libby’s 100% pure pumpkin puree at the end of every season, so I can start making glorious pumpkin everything in August and September.

But keep in mind that if you are using fresh pumpkin puree, you want to make sure it has been drained WELL so that it doesn’t add too much liquid to the batter for this pound cake.

Ingredients

¼ cup butter 4 tablespoons
¾ cup yellow onion diced
2 cloves garlic minced
2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon dried thyme
1 cup chicken broth
8 ounces clam juice*
4 potatoes medium-sized, peeled and diced
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy whipping cream
19.5 ounces chopped clams** drained with the juice reserved (3 cans – 6.5 ounces each)
bacon optional

Instructions

Melt the butter in large stockpot.
Saute the diced onion for 2-3 minutes in the melted butter; add the garlic and stir in the Old Bay seasoning, salt, pepper, basil and thyme. Cook for 45 seconds, being careful not to burn the garlic.
Gradually pour in the chicken broth, clam juice, and the reserved liquid from the chopped clams.
Stir in the diced potatoes.
Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low; simmer for 12-13 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender. DO NOT DRAIN.
Stir in the milk, heavy whipping cream, and the chopped clams. Cook until heated through, about 4 minutes. Do not boil!
Optional: Top with chopped cooked bacon, serve with crackers, or bread.

Notes

TIPS:

If the chowder is too thick, add more milk to thin it out.
Bacon grease may be substituted for the 1/4 cup butter in Step #1.
Use Russet or Idaho potatoes for best results.
You can substitute water for the chicken broth, the broth adds more flavor to the dish.
Also, you can use an extra jar of clam juice in place of the chicken broth.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Yes, any speculoos cookie butter will do! Lotus cookie butter is a spread made from Lotus cookies. It is similar to peanut butter but has a unique flavor that is perfect for baking.

How does cookie butter get its flavor?

How to Make Biscoff Cupcakes

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line two muffin tins with cupcake liners. Spray the inside of the liner lightly with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, using a hand or stand mixer combine all the ingredients for the cupcake batter, yellow cake mix, water, eggs, oil, and cookie butter.
Fill each liner evenly, just a bit more than half full.
Bake for 20 minutes or until the cupcake springs back after pressing it gently in the center.
Let them cool and then core the center of each cupcake using a cupcake corer or small spoon. I suggest not to core too deep, make sure to leave a little bit of cake at the bottom.
Microwave ¼ cup of the cookie butter for 10-15 seconds or until you can stir and pour it easily. Spoon the cookie butter into each of the hollow cupcakes and set them aside.

How to Make Biscoff Buttercream Frosting

In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and cookie butter together using a hand or stand mixer.
Beat in the vanilla and the salt.
Then, mix in the confectioner’s sugar, one cup at a time. As it thickens, slowly add the heavy cream until you reach the desired consistency.
Using a butter knife, spread the buttercream onto each cupcake or pipe it on using a piping bag and Wilton 1M tip.
Drizzle on some of the leftover liquid cookie butter and sprinkle on a bit of crushed biscoff cookies to decorate.

Making These Cookie Butter Cupcakes in Advance

If you want to make these cupcakes ahead of time, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Just be sure to thaw them out before you frost and serve them.

The Biscoff buttercream can be made a couple of days in advance, then stored covered in an airtight container in the fridge. When you’re ready to frost the cupcakes, let the buttercream soften at room temperature and use a mixer to re-mix it. You can also add in a splash of milk to soften it up.

You can of course use any type of yellow cake mix, just follow the ingredients on the back of the box…each type is different and may call for more eggs, or, water or the use of milk.
If you are planning to pipe the frosting into tall peaks, you may want to double the buttercream recipe.

This is a very decadent cupcake, I like cookie butter but what could I do to cut the sweetness a bit?

You can certainly forgo coring the cupcakes and adding the cookie butter to the center. Or you can change up the cupcake flavor and leave out the cookie butter in the cupcake batter, try using just vanilla or plain chocolate cupcake instead.

Can this recipe be made into a cake?

Yes – you can make this into a cake. Just follow the baking directions for your desired cake size on the back of the box only using the batter alterations you see here.

Bake until the center springs back when gently pressed. Cool completely before removing them from the pans. Then you can decorate with the Biscoff buttercream frosting.

Second, cook the gravy completely before storing it. This will prevent any bacteria from growing and will also help to keep the flavor intact.

WHAT IS A ROUX

If you don’t have the turkey drippings on hand, don’t worry! You can still make delicious gravy without it.

Replace the drippings in the recipe with chicken or turkey stock. You may need to add more seasonings at the end since the stock doesn’t have all of the flavors that the drippings would add to the finished gravy recipe.

Substitutions and Variations

If you want to make a gluten-free gravy, you can substitute the flour for gluten-free flour. This will change the texture of the gravy, but it will still be delicious.

If you want to make a dairy-free gravy, you can substitute the butter with lard or bacon grease. This will change the flavor of the gravy, but it will still be delicious.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and if you’re like me, you’re planning your holiday meal early. This year, forget the oven and try using a slow cooker instead.

Slow cookers are great for cooking turkey because they keep the meat moist and ensure that it doesn’t get dried out. Plus, they free up your oven for other dishes.

Slow cooker turkey breast is definitely one of the easiest ways to cook a turkey breast. Plus, it’s really moist and delicious.

I love this recipe because it is so simple. I really wish we had it when we were first learning how to make a holiday meal 30 years ago. This is almost as easy as dump and go because you can just place the veggies along with the seasoned turkey in the slow cooker and leave it to cook until it is ready.

There isn’t a lot of prep or additional steps. So simple – anyone can do it.

How big of a turkey breast do I need?

When it comes to turkey, it is always better to have too much than too little. No one wants to run out of turkey on Thanksgiving! However, how much turkey per person do you need?

The USDA recommends 1/2 pound (227 grams) of meat per person. However, this is a very safe quantity if you want to be sure to have enough and plenty for leftovers. Instead, I’m keeping the nutrition info reasonably realistic by choosing 6-8 ounces per serving.

One whole turkey breast will feed about 6-8 people, depending on how many other dishes are being served. If you’re serving a lot of other food, you may want to consider getting two smaller breasts instead of one large one.

When it comes to leftovers, plan on about 1/2 cup (120 ml) of cooked turkey per person. This will give you enough for sandwiches and other dishes without having too much leftover Turkey Day food!

What temperature should a turkey be cooked to?

The best way for a turkey to be cooked is with high heat, which will kill all the bacteria in the turkey. The USDA recommends cooking your turkey at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes per pound of weight when using a conventional oven.

When cooking with a slow cooker, the heat and steam trapped under the lid will help to cook the turkey. Try not to open the lid too often to check on it.

Slow cooking of a turkey breast can be done until the internal temp reaches 165 degrees.

How long does it take a turkey breast to thaw?

It takes about 24-48 hours for a turkey breast to thaw in the refrigerator. To speed up the process, you can place the turkey breast in a cold water bath and change the water every 30 minutes. I don’t recommend thawing in the microwave.

Can I slow cook a skin-on turkey breast?

Yes, you can slow cook a skin-on turkey breast. However, the skin will not be as crispy as if it were roasted in the oven.

Ingredients for Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

turkey breast, bone-in, completely thawed
onion – chopped
celery – chopped
turkey broth or chicken

Can you cook a turkey breast frozen?

While you can do this – that doesn’t mean that you should. I highly recommend that you don’t try to do this with a frozen turkey breast.

When cooking with a slow cooker – the meat will sit at an unsafe temperature for far too long when cooking slowly. So this could make you and your guests quite sick. It also will make the cooking process VERY long.

This won’t result in a very good meal. You will likely have dry, tough turkey on the outside and potentially unsafe turkey on the inside. Please use a fresh or fully thawed turkey for this recipe.

How to Make Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Remove the packaging and rinse the turkey breast under cool water, pat dry with paper towels. Place the turkey on a plastic cutting board or on a large baking sheet.
Cut onion and celery and place them in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
In a small bowl, combine the ingredients for the rub.
Coat the turkey with the oil and then add seasoning rub.
Place the turkey on top of the vegetables in the slow cooker.
Pour the broth into the cooker, on the sides of the turkey – not on top so that you don’t wash away the seasonings you just added.
Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F, check the temperature at the 5-hour mark.
Remove the turkey from the cooker and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
Carve and serve.
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator or cut them up and freeze them for another recipe later on.

How Long Do You Cook for the Best Crock Pot Turkey Breast?

2 lb turkey breast – 2hrs 30 minutes to 3 hrs 30 minutes
3 lb turkey breast – 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours 30 minutes.
4 lb turkey breast – 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours 30 minutes.
5-6 lb turkey breast – 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours 30 minutes.

PRO TIP: After the turkey breast is cooked, it may be baked under a broiler for about 4 minutes to get a crispy outer layer (this isn’t required).

PLEASE BE SURE TO DISINFECT YOUR SINK AND THE SURROUNDING COUNTERTOPS AFTER RINSING THE TURKEY. While I don’t typically recommend rinsing poultry because it just spreads any microbes around your kitchen – when it comes to turkey, you need to at least rinse off the extra juices in the packaging.

Don’t worry – all the microbes will cook out – but the sink and any areas where things could have splashed will need to be properly disinfected. Use a wipe or spray and be sure to leave it on for the recommended time so you aren’t spreading things around your kitchen.

Can leftover turkey be frozen?

You bet. We like to keep the leftovers in the fridge for a couple of days for quick and easy meals. But if it looks like we aren’t going to be able to eat it all within 3-4 days – then I toss the remaining leftovers in a zip-top bag and freeze it for up to 2 months.

It’s great to add it to a last-minute dinner-like soup in the Instant Pot. I don’t even have to thaw it first.

Why is it important to use the thermometer on the thickest part of the bird?

The most important thing to remember when using a meat thermometer is that it needs to be in the thickest part of the meat since that will take the longest to heat all the way through and come to the proper temperature.

The tip of a digital thermometer should be inserted into the center of a large roast, turkey, or other whole bird. The probe should not touch the bone or any other cold spot.

Insert the probe slowly and carefully until it touches an internal part of the meat and takes its reading without touching or moving any internal parts such as bones or fat.

Bone-In or Boneless Turkey Breast

When it comes to turkey breast, you have the option of using a boneless or bone-in turkey breast. Both options will work for this recipe, but the bone-in turkey breast will take more time to cook.

How To Carve A Turkey Breast

First, cut down the middle of the bird and turn it on its side.
Cut right below the bone to create a nice, even cut.
Make sure the cuts are even and the breast is symmetrical before cooking.

Can Oreo Balls be frozen?

Oreo balls can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 2 months. This is a great way to store them if you want to have them on hand for a quick snack or dessert.

You can also freeze them in different shapes and sizes, which can be fun if you are looking for a variety of ways to enjoy them. Oreo balls can also be frozen in different flavors, such as chocolate or peanut butter.

How to Make Oreo Truffles

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Using a food processor or large resealable bag and a rolling pin, crush the cookies into fine crumbs.
Reserve 1-2 tablespoons of the crushed cookies in a small bowl – this will be for topping the coated truffles. Set aside.
Add the cream cheese to the food processor with the crumbs and pulse several times until well combined.
Using a small cookie dough scoop, separate out into 48 portions and then form each into a ball.
Roll the ball between your hands until it’s smooth.
Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, longer is fine. You can also pop them in the freezer if you have space.

Adding the Chocolate Coating to Oreo Balls

Place the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl.
Start heating it in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute on 50% power, and stir the chocolate.
Continue to heat in 30-second intervals – still at 50% power, stirring after each time. Stop when there are a few bits of chocolate left, then stir until completely melted.
Using a fork, dip a chilled Oreo ball into the melted chocolate and tap off the excess.
Place the chocolate-coated truffle on the prepared baking sheet.
Sprinkle with the reserved crushed Oreos.
Let harden for about 10-15 minutes.
Repeat with another layer of melted chocolate if necessary or desired before decorating.
Let harden before serving.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Tips for No-Fail Oreo Balls:

Set out all your dipping supplies set out before you start.
Make sure the chocolate is melted and stirred until smooth.
Place the ball on a fork and dip it into the chocolate or use a spoon to coat the ball.

Tap the fork on the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate and create a smooth finish.
Use a toothpick to help push the ball onto the parchment paper.
If there is extra chocolate, draw a line around the base of the ball with the toothpick.

You can use a double boiler instead of the microwave to make the melted chocolate if you like.
Make sure you are using a small cookie scoop to keep the size uniform when making this easy treat.
If you are using something other than a food processor to create the cookie crumbs, you might want to use a stand mixer to then mix in the cream cheese so that it is mixed well throughout the oreo crumbs. Be sure to use the paddle attachment and not the whip. You can also use an electric hand mixer, however, that is a bit messier.

One standard 14-ounce package of REGULAR Oreo cookies has 38 cookies in it when I last counted. That is the perfect amount for this recipe. If you are using a different flavor of Oreo cookie, sometimes those specialty or limited edition versions will come with more or less than that in the package. Also – double-stuffed cookies come in a different quantity. Be sure to check my notes in the post for using double-stuffed cookies.

Use room temperature cream cheese – it will make it so much easier to blend it with the cookie crumbs.
These 3-ingredient oreo balls are one of the easiest desserts and perfect for all those oreo lovers out there.

Make them pretty (optional)

If you want to get really festive with your Oreo balls, you can dip them in white chocolate and add red and green sprinkles, or even crushed candy canes. You could also add holiday candies for a Christmassy touch.

How do you melt chocolate in the microwave?

Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl.
Make sure to heat on 50% power so that you don’t scorch the chocolate.
Microwave in short bursts of 30 seconds or so and stir in between each burst for 10-15 seconds.
Melting is still happening after being removed from the microwave, so be careful not to overheat the chocolate.

How many calories are in one Oreo cookie ball?

According to our nutrition calculator in the recipe card, one Oreo cookie ball has 71 calories and 6g net carbohydrates. However, I came up with slightly different results when I entered this into my Carb Manager app. So please do your own calculations if you are watching your macros closely.

Do I really have to chill the insides?

It is imperative that the mixture is chilled for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour & that the finished truffles stay chilled. It is important to keep the cream cheese chilled for food safety.

Can I use another type of Oreo cookie?

Yes -you sure can. These Oreo truffles can be made with any type of Oreo cookie you prefer.

Make-Ahead and Storing

If you want to make Oreo balls ahead of time, the best way to do it is to prepare the filling and then freeze it until you’re ready to use it. This will help keep the balls from drying out.

To store Oreo balls, place them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

How long will Oreo cookie balls keep?

Oreo cookie balls will keep for 3 weeks in the refrigerator or 2 months in the freezer. Oreo cookie balls should always be stored in a covered container.

What are the best sprinkles for these truffles?

This is important – just because the package says “sprinkles” doesn’t necessarily mean that it is in fact sprinkles.

I see a lot of people using colored sanding sugar that is labeled as sprinkles.

This will not work as well because when that sugar gets wet – like when mixed into a moist dough or when placed in the refrigerator, it will sweat & the color will bleed out.

Why didn’t my chocolate wafers melt correctly?

When your chocolate wafers become chunky rather than creamy, it is said that the chocolate is seized. This is typically due to overheating or contact with water or steam.

In the first case, the chocolate is just burning from excess heat, but in the second case, there is a negative reaction between the chocolate (which is waxy and has many oils that are hydrophobic, or “water-fearing”) and the water, causing the components of the chocolate to separate.

Be sure to refer to the package directions when melting chocolate to prevent this from happening.

What’s that 3 pronged fork you use to dip your Oreo Cream Cheese Balls?

If you want to make Oreo balls, you’ll need a few things. First, you’ll need a package of Oreos. Next, you’ll need some cream cheese. And finally, you’ll need a Wilton Dipping tool. (affiliate link to it below)

What chocolate is best for dipping?
