Common Questions About Pizza Sliders
Can I Use Different Types of Cheese in Pizza Sliders?
Yes, you can definitely get creative with the cheese in your pizza sliders! Mixing in some parmesan cheese will add a nice sharpness, while pepper jack cheese gives them a spicy kick.
You can even try a layer of pepperoni between different types of cheese for a tasty flavor blend. The best way to discover your favorite combination is to experiment with different cheeses and see which one your family loves the most!
Can I Make Pizza Sliders Ahead of Time?
Absolutely! Assembling the pizza sliders ahead of time can be a real time-saver.
Simply build them with your desired fillings, like lots of pepperoni and black olives, then place the bottom of the rolls in a baking dish, layer your toppings, and cap them with the top half of the buns.
Cover them with plastic wrap and refrigerate. When you’re ready to serve, bake them as directed to enjoy warm, gooey sliders.
Are Pizza Sliders Good for Large Gatherings?
Pizza sliders are an amazing choice for large gatherings, making them a favorite for game days, family reunions, or any big event.
The tops of the sliders get nicely toasted in the oven, giving you a delicious contrast to the soft bottom of the rolls and the juicy fillings inside.
Plus, their handheld size makes them convenient for guests to enjoy even while mingling or watching the game!
Storage
These heat up nicely again in the oven or air fryer. They’re great as leftovers! Although chances are good they’ll get gobbled up before then, haha!
Refrigerator
Store in an airtight container or wrapped in aluminum foil for up to 3 days.
Freezer
Freeze them in a single layer, wrapped tightly. They can be reheated in the oven or air fryer.
Tips
These are officially one of my favorite foods for parties these days. I’d say they’re on my top ten list of delicious recipes. So tasty!!
- Use Hawaiian Sweet Rolls: For a subtly sweet base that complements the savory toppings.
- Even Layers: Ensure even layers of cheese and pepperoni for the best flavor in every bite.
- Garlic Butter Topping: Don’t skip the garlic butter on top; it adds a delicious richness.
- Watch the Oven: Keep an eye on them in the oven to prevent over-browning.
- Serve Warm: They’re best enjoyed warm for that gooey cheese effect.
Ingredients
That gooey mozzarella cheese really ties everything together in these sliders. All these flavors combine to make a sandwich that everyone will love.
- Hawaiian dinner rolls
- Pizza sauce
- Sliced pepperoni
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Butter
- Garlic powder

How to Make Pizza Sliders
There is nothing to it! The Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half, make it really easy to layer on the other ingredients. Then you toss it all in the oven. Easy!
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Slice the dinner rolls through the middle. Place the bottoms on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the bottoms with about ¼ cup of the pizza sauce. Reserve the remaining pizza sauce for dipping.
- On top of the roll bottoms, create layers of pepperoni and cheese, starting and ending with cheese. Add the tops of the dinner rolls.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and seasonings. Brush the seasoned butter over the top of the sliders.
- Cover the sliders with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Uncover and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes or until the sliders are golden brown.
- Cut the sandwiches apart and serve warm.
For the air fryer:
- Preheat the air fryer to 300 degrees.
- Cut the sandwiches apart.
- Place the sliders into the air fryer in a single layer with a small space inbetween the sandwiches to allow the air to circulate.
- Air fry the sliders for 5 to 8 minutes or until the cheese has melted, and the sandwiches are browned.
