Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken is an easy 30-minute dinner recipe for those busy weeknights. Serve on a bed of steamed rice with a side of veggies & the whole family is happy!
It’s no secret, I like super easy dinner recipes. I really love to eat, but the process of making the food isn’t as fun. So when I can create something that tastes great AND is ready in about 30 minutes, I am a happy girl.
When I was first out on my own I practically lived off teriyaki bowls. I couldn’t get enough. Probably because when I was growing up my mom & I lived off toast a lot of the time. It was just quick & easy. No wonder I was so skinny then. HA! Pair this with my Instant Pot White Rice too!
But things changed. I discovered flavors I really love & teriyaki chicken is definitely one of them. Which explains why I picked up those bowls for dinner so often.
Once we had kids, picking up dinner that frequently just wasn’t feasible. So learning to make my own was a must. After a lot of testing & trials, I came up with this recipe that I can’t live without.

I love that this recipe is ready so quickly. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a ton of time in the evenings. We have to keep dinner prep & clean up fast.
I also really love that this recipe is simple. Toss it all in the skillet while the rice is cooking in the rice cooker & we are in business folks. I am not a fan of lots of complicated steps.
Honestly, who has time for all that fluff? Just mix it together & cook it. It turns out so sweet & tangy. Mmmm, I want more right now.
Here are some commonly asked questions
Can I use jarred sauce instead?
Yes- of course. If you are tight on time or ingredients, just cook the chicken with a couple extra jars of the teriyaki glaze in the skillet. That really makes things easy.
What is the best way to store extra teriyaki chicken?
After serving, place leftover chicken in an airtight container. Be sure to label with the date before refrigerating. This recipe should keep for up to 2 days. As with most things, it is important to get food into the refrigerator within 1 hour after serving to prevent bacteria growth.
Can I make this recipe with pork?
Absolutely. This is delicious with pork in place of chicken. Use all the same ingredients & follow the directions the same way.

Can this be made in the slow cooker?
Yes, this can be made in the slow cooker, but the chicken be seered like it is when cooked in the skillet. You will want to add more liquid to the slow cooker to keep things from drying out. Cook for 4-5 hours on low & then whisk in 2 tbsp of cornstarch once the chicken is cooked to thicken the sauce. It will still taste delicious, but it just won’t be quite the same.
Can this recipe be doubled?
YES – I love to double this recipe when having company over. This is such an easy dinner so it makes it great for friends that drop in at the last minute.

Love this recipe! Thank you for sharing. Quick. Easy. Delicious. My whole (picky) family liked it! My only issue was the sauce never reduced to a thick glaze it was a glaze and it was delicious though but idk if I just didn’t cook long enough or if I’m just thinking of a different consistency. It tasted great and worked out well regardless of the thicknesses of the sauce though, will be making it again!

Mine did the same thing! I used Kikoman Teriyaki sauce, but I think this recipe might be referring to the pre-made “glaze” teriyaki sauce that is found near the bbq sauces and marinades.
Margie says
I did use a teriyaki marinade/sauce and it never reduced. Haven’t eaten it yet. Smells good.
Gina Kleinworth says
Did you use a thick marinade or a thinner sauce? This recipe is meant to be made with the one linked in the post.
