Sometimes it’s good to sit back, relax, crack open a magazine & get a little Me Time Inspiration. It’s good for the soul & rejuvenates my creativity.
Me Time Inspiration
I love where I live. Northern Idaho is good for my soul. But with the demands of work, we don’t get out & really enjoy where we live as often as we should. I mean, there are 17 lakes all within a short distance of us. So, since the weather has been absolutely glorious lately, we figured we would finally break away & make time for some R&R. We went out to the lake, I practiced a little photography & I was feeling good.
When we got home it was time to make some dinner. Since I’m an introvert by nature, I still need some peace & solitude after a day out with the family. Time to my own thoughts is good for me. Since the hubs almost always grills our dinner in the summer, my new favorite thing to do is head outside with him & let the kids handle the side dishes. When I hurt my hand I had to start leaning on the kids for more help in a whole lot of areas I would normally push them out of. I’m not one for help & I certainly like to do things myself if at all possible. But now that they are old enough, I’m more comfortable letting them help & I can give my hand a rest. Turns out, things are okay without me having to do it all. How about that?!
I usually grab a magazine or two, along with a drink, and sit at the picnic table & keep the hubs company while he gets dinner fired up. While he was picking up some chicken at SAFEWAY, he also picked up copies of CookingLight (because it always inspires me to make yummy food) & Sunset Magazine because it takes me back home to California every time I open it. He’s awesome like that, always picking me up things he knows I’ll love. I’m a huge lover of magazines. I almost always pick up one when I’m shopping- especially these two. I love things that spark my creative thought. Bonus points if it can also inspire me to prepare better meals for my family or transport me back home, if only through the pages. Sigh… gotta love that. It was the perfect me time inspiration.
I sat there perusing my new finds while he grilled away. I have to say, it’s the perfect “me-time” while everyone was slaving away over dinner. I just sat back, relaxed & enjoyed the day. I so needed it, let me tell you. When the wings were done, we just served them up on some brown paper & brought out all our other fixings to dine al fresco.
It was the perfect relaxing day.
