Keto Sugar Cookies are easy to make with only 3-ingredients, are super soft, chewy, and taste just like the real thing! BONUS there’s no almond flour – so the texture is amazing.
Who loves a good sugar cookie? I sure do and when we were forced to make a switch to keto for a while we sure missed things like soft and buttery sugar cookies. Especially when the holidays were upon us.
So I set out to recreate some of our favorite recipes using keto-friendly ingredients. Some were absolute flops as you would expect. But there were others – like these cookies here that were inspired by our SUPER POPULAR 4-Ingredient Sugar Cookies that turned out every bit as good as I hoped.
Now, when it comes to cookies – I’m super picky. I have spent a great deal of time and money trying to recreate our favorite recipes. If it isn’t good enough to pass the test of “can you tell that it’s low-carb?” then it doesn’t make it here for me to share it with you.
Fortunately, these cookies did pass that test and we have made them a multitude of times since we started this journey. I hope you love them as much as we do.

What are keto sugar cookies?
Keto sugar cookies are low-carb, sugar-free cookies that are perfect for those on a ketogenic diet or anyone looking to reduce their sugar intake. These cookies are made with keto flour, butter, and granulated erythritol, and are a delicious alternative to traditional sugar cookies.
How many carbs are in a keto sugar cookie?
Our keto sugar cookies contain just 1 gram of net carbs per cookie. Not bad if you ask me!
What is the best way to store leftover keto sugar cookies?
Once the cookies have cooled, place them in an airtight container. I like to leave them on the counter or in the pantry – basically room temperature. These will keep soft and chewy for up to a week.
I have not tried refrigerating them, so I can’t say what that will do to the longevity or texture.
Should I use salted or unsalted butter?
Since this recipe doesn’t call for salt and I like a hint of salt to pair with the sweetness – especially since the artificial sweeteners are so much sweeter than actual sugar. (go figure) The salted butter cuts the sweetness perfectly.
You can also use unsalted butter if that is what you have – then add a pinch of salt to the dough if you like.

What is the difference between a keto sugar cookie and a regular sugar cookie?
The biggest difference between our keto sugar cookies and regular sugar cookies is the amount of sugar and carbs. Our keto sugar cookies are made with zero sugar and low carbs, while regular sugar cookies are made with high amounts of sugar and carbs.

Can I use another type of sweetener?
I have only tested this with granulated erythritol. I did do it once with Swerve brand instead of the PureCane. That turned out fine. But I will be testing with allulose and monk fruit sweeteners in the future to see if I actually like those better. If you give it a try – I’d love to know how it turned out.
So there’s no almond flour in these cookies?
Nope! If you don’t like the texture and mouth-feel of almond flour baked goods, I totally feel you on that. That was one of the biggest let-downs for me when making keto versions of my favorite foods. Almond flour just doesn’t cut it for me.
That’s where this Mouthwatering Motivation Keto Baking & Pastry Flour comes in. It is the same flour that a lot of these keto-friendly bread products use, which is HIGH in fiber, thus canceling out most of the carbs. Gotta love that AND I can make most of my favorite things without sacrificing flavor, and texture, and adding all the carbs.

What are the benefits of keto sugar cookies?
The benefits of keto sugar cookies include that they are low in carbs and calories, which makes them a great choice for people who are trying to lose weight or maintain their current weight.
They also have higher fat and protein, which make them a healthy snack option for those on a keto diet. Finally, keto sugar cookies are easy to make and can be enjoyed by everyone.
How to Make 3-Ingredient Keto Sugar Cookies
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Combine butter and granulated erythritol in a large mixer bowl and beat until well combined and the mixture is fluffy.
- Mix in the keto flour and the extract if using it. Beat until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- Portion out 1″ balls of dough – roll them between your hands to smooth and shape.
- Place them on the prepared baking sheets at least 1-2″ apart. Press down on the top of the dough to flatten slightly.
- Sprinkle with additional erythritol if desired. (I usually do this with regular sugar cookies and granulated sugar – but don’t usually do this when working with erythritol instead)
- Bake for 14-16 minutes. Be sure to not over-bake. The cookies will firm up as they cool.
- Cool on the baking sheet for at least 10 minutes. Then transfer the cookies to a wire rack to finish the cooling process before serving.
Do I have to chill the dough?
Nope! That is what I love so much about this cookie recipe. No chilling is required, which means that you can satisfy that craving in less than 30 minutes.
Can I freeze keto sugar cookies?
Yes, these cookies can be frozen. Once baked, wrap each cookie individually in plastic wrap. Then place all of the wrapped cookies in an airtight container. Freeze for up to 2 months.
You can also freeze the dough. Place the rolled dough portions in a single layer on a baking sheet. Freeze until firm and then transfer to a zip-top bag for space-saving. Keep for up to 2 months.
When ready to make – thaw to room temperature before baking.

Can I use a different extract?
Yes, swapping out extracts is easy and works great. You can use vanilla extract if you aren’t a big fan of that cherry flavor you get with almond extract. Sometimes I like to do 1/2 a teaspoon of each to balance out the flavors a bit.
How many cookies does this make?
This recipe makes about 18-20 cookies but this will depend on how large or small you make them. I rolled 1″ balls of dough for these cookies.
Now – when I first started testing, I used the same measurements as in my standard easy sugar cookies but found that not only did the keto flour have more absorbency (making the dough stiff and a bit dryer) but it increased the number of cookies to about 25.
If you like a firm sugar cookie – you can use 2 cups of keto flour for this recipe and you should get more cookies out of the batch too.
Can I Roll Out the Dough to Make Cut-Out Cookies?
No, I’m sorry this dough isn’t the right consistency to make cut-out cookies. It just won’t roll out, cut or hold shape like a traditional cut-out sugar cookie recipe.
What kind of flour do these keto sugar cookies use?
We used Mouthwatering Motivation Keto Baking & Pastry Flour for these cookies. It has high fiber content, meaning that you can subtract that from your carb count – making it keto-friendly. Its texture is similar to all-purpose flour, but because of the fiber and the fact that it is a modified wheat flour, it does absorb more moisture than your standard all-purpose flour.
