Are you an early riser? Does your day get going long before the sun comes up? Then you need this super cute I Wake the Rooster Craft – Early Riser Cricut Project that you can make with your Cricut machine.

I wake up pretty early. I mean, I’m usually in the office between 4 -4:30 every morning. One day my son made a joke that I am the one that wakes the rooster & I thought that it would make a super cute caption on my coffee mug.

So I created this image file that you can download below. Then just upload it to your Cricut dashboard, select the areas you want it to cut away & click MAKE. Then just weed out the negative space & apply to your mug or shirt. It’s that easy.

WHAT KIND OF VINYL DO YOU USE TO MAKE THE MUG?

While you can use regular adhesive backed vinyl, I have found that permanent outdoor vinyl works so much better for things like mugs. This way it can be washed & will last a lot longer. I still wouldn’t put it in the dishwasher, but I have some that have lasted more than a year & still going strong with daily hand washing. I also use this vinyl for things like window stickers for the car.

WHAT VINYL SHOULD I USE TO MAKE THE T-SHIRT?

I personally love this heat transfer vinyl for my shirts because it comes in a nice variety of colors. Check this one out if you want glitter heat transfer vinyl.

HOW DO YOU MAKE THIS Early Riser Cricut Project for mugs?>

1. Download the image file below.
2. Upload to the Cricut Dashboard.
3. Choose simple image. Continue.
4. Select areas you want the Cricut to cut away.
5. Save as a cut image. Save.
6. Choose image. Insert Images.
7. Move the image into place & drag the corners to make it the size that you want it to cut to. Click GO.
8. Set the dial to vinyl.
9. Place your vinyl on the cutting mat.
10. Feed into the machine & press go. Watch it do its magic.
11. Once done, remove the vinyl from the cutting mat & use the weeding tool to remove the excess vinyl.
12. This will leave you with just your image on the paper backing.
13. Place a piece of transfer paper over your cut & peel off from the paper.
14. Position your cut where you want it on the mug.
15. Use a scraper tool to press the vinyl on.
16. Carefully remove transfer tape.
17. Refrain from washing for 24 hours.

 

HOW DO YOU MAKE THIS Early Riser Cricut Project for t-shirt>

1. Download the image file below.
2. Upload to the Cricut Dashboard.
3. Choose simple image. Continue.
4. Select areas you want the Cricut to cut away.
5. Save as a cut image. Save.
6. Choose image. Insert Images.
7. Move the image into place & drag the corners to make it the size that you want it to cut to. Click GO.
8. Choose mirror image for iron-on so that once it’s cut it’s not backward. GO.
9. Set the dial to custom. Select iron-on, if using glitter vinyl you will choose the custom setting. Then choose glitter iron-on vinyl from the drop-down menu.
10. Place your heat transfer vinyl with the shiny side down on the cutting mat.
11. Feed into the machine & press go. Watch it do its magic.
12. Once done, remove the vinyl from the cutting mat & use the weeding tool to remove the excess vinyl.
13. This will leave you with just your image on the back of the shiny paper.
14. Run your iron over the shirt to pre-heat the fabric.
15. Position your cut where you want it.
16. Cover with a thin cloth & iron on, pressing on the image for 25-30 seconds.
17. Turn the garment over & iron the back side for another 25-30 seconds.
18. Allow to cool & then carefully remove the plastic.

• Cricut Machine – like the Cricut Explore Air 2
• heat transfer vinyl (shirt)
• permanent outdoor vinyl (mug)
• Blank Mug
• or a blank travel mug is you like
• optional t-shirt
• weeding tool
• Iron or Cricut Heat Press
• Cutting Mat
• Transfer Tape for the mug version
