Tomorrow is National Garlic Day!!! That’s a big deal for us because we LOVE garlic in this house.
Looking for Easy Family Dinner Ideas? Today I am going to share with you my latest garlic creation.
Funny thing- as you know I rarely do the grocery shopping. It’s something I leave to the hubs because I am quite dangerous wandering the store. But this time I decided to do it. While I was there I wandered past this big display of what I thought was lettuce. Well as you also know- I’m not a big “veggie” eater- so what I thought was lettuce was actually cabbage. Hehehehe- it was just the most beautiful color of pale green- I didn’t even look at the sign. Laugh all you like- it is what it is. Soooooo- I had to find a way to use it- couldn’t let it go to waste. So I decided to tap into the German side of the family & make some slaw. But I obviously had to add our favorite ingredient – garlic.
Came out fabulous- it was so easy. I will definitely be making this for all those summer BBQ gathering that will be here before I know it.

We then used the remaining cabbage & the hubs fried it up in the skillet with mushrooms, purple onions, about 10 cloves of minced garlic & some butter & seasonings. He then piled it on top of his breakfast potatoes. He was in heaven.

Yum! We are big garlic eaters around here! I will make this because slaw is perfect for shredded BBQ pork! I never would have thought to use sour cream as the base for slaw, but that sounds really creamy and good!
And the second dish with cabbage looks mighty good too!
So nice that you dont do the shopping. I don’t like my hubby to shop because he buys all sorts of goodies, and randoms. I try to keep him away from the store, it would be nice to farm out that chore if he didn’t come back with 10 boxes of cereal that no one likes. 🙂

Yum, I love cabbage too. Especially mixed in with onions and sauteed to perfection. Glad you made the most of it.

Oh heavens, I love cabbage, but unfortunately I became severely allergic to it recently (I know, strange thing to be allergic to). Gosh that slaw looks good!
