If you love eggnog, then this Eggnog French Toast is sure to be a favorite breakfast for holiday mornings. The addition of rum extract gives it great flavor while keeping it “kid-friendly” too.
How could you make French Toast any better? Add eggnog! We started doing this a few years back & now reserve this amazing treat for special occasions & holidays.
The eggnog brings forth an explosion of flavors which will have the family going back for more. We have some pretty picky eaters in the house who didn’t happen to be too fond of eggnog. That is, until this recipe!
At first the kids didn’t even recognize the taste of the eggnog, they just kept raving about the deliciousness of the French Toast. Then, we said, “heck ya it’s good! We made it with eggnog”. Of course, that makes it over the top amazing, right?
There was hardly even a pause from the kids as they kept enjoying their breakfast. But it doesn’t have to be just for breakfast though! We love to make breakfast for dinner & have some friends over to share this mouthwatering treat with us.
This fabulous meal has never let me down & stands out among all other dishes during gatherings & special occasions with family and friends.
Did you know, that French Toast was enjoyed by the English back in the 17th century? Such a genius idea!

Originally, people made French toast from stale bread that would otherwise be thrown away. The origins of French Toast are not entirely clear however the French call it “pain perdu” meaning, “lost bread”.

Absolutely. I really love using this thicker bread like the texas toast. But you can use sandwich bread, slices of french bread or anything else you have on hand.
Can you use low-fat eggnog?
Absolutely. If you want to keep the fat content down, the low-fat variety will work just fine for this recipe.
Can this recipe be doubled?
Yes, if you are making this for a large crowd, you can definitely double this recipe. We do this most often on Thanksgiving of Christmas morning when everyone is home & hungry as we plan out our day.

What is Texas Toast? I mean, I thought I knew what it was…my daughter went to grad school in Houston, at Rice University, and she made Texas Toast with garlic and cheese. Somehow I don’t think this eggnog French toast would taste all that great with garlic and cheese… Help? Thanks!
