I have not tried it with guacamole because the texture isn’t smooth. The idea is that the water creates a layer that keeps air from getting to the avocado – which is what turns it brown. I would imagine if you tried to add a layer of water to the top of a bowl of guacamole, it would dilute and ruin it.
You could try just spraying the top of it with a mist of water and then placing the plastic wrap directly on top. If you give this a try – please let me know how it worked.
