How to Make Christmas Kringle
I love finding unique baked goods like these to share during the holidays. They bring a smile to everyone’s faces and create memories that will last a lifetime.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Position both pieces of puff pastry on top of one another on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Trim the edges to form a circle from the square – I used a large bowl to help make it as round as possible.
- Remove the top layer and spread the Nutella onto the bottom layer. Place the other sheet back on top.
- Position a small jar or glass in the center of the dough – pressing in lightly.
- Use a knife to cut 1” strips around the dough in a star pattern around the glass (see photos in post) Then make slices within the center of those strips – but keeping the ends intact.
- Take the end of each strip and push it through the hole you sliced in it to form a twist.
- Remove the jar in the center.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Brush the egg wash over the top of the pastry.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once baked, whisk the glaze ingredients together. You can either brush it onto the top of the pastry or drizzle it. That is completely optional. You can also just give it a dusting of confectioner’s sugar instead of adding the glaze.
