One of my favorite things to do during the holidays season is bake treats for our friends & family. Growing up my mom & I spent countless hours in the kitchen making goodies to share with our neighbors, holiday guest & of course, we took them to all the holiday parties happening that time of year. I have such fond memories of those times together. They really make the holidays brighter.

These days I like to create those memories with my children. One of our favorite things to do is choose recipes from mom’s old cookbook to recreate each year alongside our traditional favorites. The chocolate cookies always seem to be the favorite. I especially like it when we can add the delicious taste of Nutella®. It sure makes those cookies extra special.

Holiday Cookies with Nutella® hazelnut spread
We took our favorite chocolate cookie recipe & then spread delicious Nutella® hazelnut spread on top. Then we sprinkled some crushed pistachios for a bit of salt & pretty green color. Now, a little bit of Nutella® goes a long way, so you’ll have plenty left for things like toast, fruit or yogurt.
These cookies are perfect for holiday gift giving. The holidays never tasted this good!

Holiday Cookies with Nutella® hazelnut spread
Ingredients
- 1-1/4 cups two & one-half sticks butter - soft/room temperature
- 2 large eggs - room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp table salt
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup Nutella® hazelnut spread
- 1/2 cup shelled & crushed pistachios
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Line 3 baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mat - set aside
- In the mixer bowl, beat butter & sugars together until light & fluffy
- Mix in eggs one at a time just until combined
- Beat in vanilla
- Slowly beat in dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, baking soda & salt)
- Use a medium cookie scoop & drop dough onto prepared baking trays
- Bake 8-10 minutes
- Allow cookies to cool 5 minutes on baking sheet before transferring to a cooling rack
- Once cooled, spread Nutella® on top of each cookie & sprinkle with pistachios
