Buffalo Chicken Wings are always the hit of any party, gathering, or celebration. Baked or air fried – these are easy to make & SO DELICIOUS!
When it comes to any sort of game day, celebration or holiday – our family is all about the snacks. Things like chicken wings always top the list because they are so incredibly good.
I’m a bit of a fanatic when it comes to chicken wings. I can’t seem to get enough. These ones are so easy to make, that it makes it hard to want to make anything else.
You see, we gave up on elaborate meals for holidays and big days long ago. I would much rather enjoy my day with my family, rather than cooking and cleaning.
So we vowed to always do snacks for the big days and choose a random weekend to actually make a large “holiday” meal.

What I love about this recipe is that not only are we making our own buffalo sauce – but that we can choose to make these either in the oven or in the air fryer.
This helps when I already have one appliance working hard on another delicious dish we are serving for our spread.

Here are some commonly asked questions
Can I use frozen chicken wings?
Yes, absolutely, that will work just fine. Just be sure to thaw them & pat them dry before using.
Please don’t try baking or air frying the wings while they are still frozen. While you can do many recipes from frozen in a pressure cooker – baking or air frying isn’t quite the same.
Should I use salted or unsalted butter?
This is really a personal preference. If you are happy with just a little added salt to these wings, then use salted butter.
I usually use whatever I have on hand, I really don’t care about what butter I have most of the time. But I typically keep salted butter on hand & I love that little bit of extra salt to my recipes.
Can this recipe be doubled?
You can, and we do it often. This recipe is enough for 6-8 people. However, if you have some serious wing-lovers in your crowd – I recommend doubling. However – you may need to work in batches.

Can I use a gluten-free flour?
I have been meaning to give this a try but haven’t had a chance. I can’t see why this wouldn’t work.
If you do try this, I would recommend using a 1:1 flour like this one as I don’t believe it would require additional ingredients that are typically called for when trying to make baked recipes in a gluten-free version. Please come back & tell me how they turned out.

What air fryer do you use?
We actually have 3 air fryers. I have a smaller one from Phillips that we started with. I have since given that to my son since he’s only cooking for 1.
But the more I used the air fryer I realized I really wanted a digital screen. It wasn’t any more expensive, in fact- our XL air fryer from GoWISE was less expensive than the Phillips and I love its ease & extra functions.
Plus it comes with a lot of the extra accessories I like to use when cooking with my fryer.
But I when I started working on my second air fryer book, I wanted to change things up. I picked up this LARGE air fryer that has been wonderful. It has Touch Screen Presets plus it is XL Family Size, which is great!
