Common Questions About Bomb Pop Jello Shots
Can I use different flavors of gelatin?
Yes! While the original Bomb Pop flavor combination of cherry, lemon, and blue raspberry is a childhood favorite, feel free to get creative. Lime, peach, or even watermelon could make unique jello shots.
Can I use different cups?
Yes. While disposable 3 oz plastic cups are recommended, you can use shot glasses if you prefer. Just adjust the quantity of the mixture accordingly.
Can I add fruits or other additives to the jello?
Certainly. The recipe calls for a maraschino cherry added to the red layer, for example. This provides a delightful surprise and enhances the cherry flavor. Feel free to try other berries or fruits as you please!

How to Make Bomb Pop Jello Shots
Next time you plan to make jello, consider making these! The combination of flavors makes the whole experience even better.
- Set out the disposable cups on a tray. This makes them easier to transfer in and out of the fridge.
- Combine 2/3 cup of boiling water and the blue gelatin in a medium bowl and stir until the gelatin is absorbed. Allow the jello to cool before pouring it into each cup – filling until about 1/3 full. Place the cups in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow them to set.
- In a clean medium bowl, sprinkle the clear gelatin over 1/3 cup of milk and allow it to bloom while you boil the remaining 2/3 cup of milk.
- Add the boiled milk to the clear gelatin and mix well until the gelatin is fully absorbed. Allow the mixture to cool so it doesn’t melt your chilled blue layer. Pour the white jello on top of the blue jello until about 2/3 full. Return to fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow to set.
- Place 2/3 cup of boiling water and red gelatin in a medium bowl and stir until gelatin is absorbed. Allow the jello to cool before pouring it into each cup.
- Place a toothpick into each maraschino cherry with a large base so that you can press the toothpick into the white jello to keep the stem upright while the red jello sets. Place cups in the fridge for about 3-4 hours to fully set.
- Once fully set, remove the toothpicks.
- Keep the jello cups in the fridge up until it is time to serve, and try to keep them chilled while serving them too. These cups will keep for several days if airtight.
