Without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own
I know that the Blue Moon doesn’t really look any different than a regular full moon- because by definition on Wikipedia…
A blue moon can refer to either the third full moon in a season with four full moons, or the second full moon in a month.[1] Most years have twelve full moons that occur approximately monthly. In addition to those twelve full lunar cycles, each solar calendar year contains roughly eleven days more than the lunar year of 12 lunations. The extra days accumulate, so every two or three years (7 times in the 19-year Metonic cycle), there is an extra full moon.
But I had to take the opportunity last week to capture is anyhow since it doesn’t happen all that often.
Then I went out the following night & did this one…
Which then looked like this when I got up the next morning.
I love it when I can capture it against the blue sky.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Beautiful!!
It was something else, wasn’t it! I was standing in my street (dead end) in my socks snapping pics last weekend! Also so cool to think that even though we live many many miles apart we see the same moon!
Gina!!! These are AWESOME!!!!!!
I knew you get some great shots! Gorgeous!!!
I knew someone would put up some fabulous pics of the blue moon. These are outstanding. I thought about it, and then never got off the couch.
How many ways of beautiful are your pictures? I absolutely love the moon against the blue sky, it just looks so surreal when that happens (like day and night have decided to have a backwards moment).
These are simply stunning.
wow – good for you – we have too much smog around here to get good photos of the moon
Wow! These are amazing! So much detail.
I saw the blue moon from our trailer while we were camping at the lake. It was beautiful as are your pictures (as always).
You captured some beauties!!
wow Gina! These photos are really amazing!! The third and fourth ones are my favorites! Its really cool to see it so close!! What lens did you use for those photos?
Really excellent;
the “textures” on the moon always amaze me.
These are unbelievable! That first one has me mesmerized over here!
