Super quick weeknight dinners don’t get any easier than this sweet & savory Baked Honey Garlic Chicken. Perfect 30-minute dinner for the whole family.
Is dinnertime crazy for you? I can totally relate, which is why I love super easy dinners that get me in & out of the kitchen in about 30 minutes or less. I think you’ll really love this Baked Honey Garlic Chicken to keep your weeknights low key.
Here’s the deal. 2 of my 3 kids don’t even get home from work until after 7 or later. So dinner around here is really scattered. Then you add activities for them too & life is just crazy. I need dinners that are quick & easy without sacrificing quality or flavor.
Have you made sheet pan chicken before? We have been making our oven fried chicken for over 20 years & it always turns out so well. So I figured that if I can bake bone-in thighs, it would be just as easy to make oven baked chicken breasts too.

Here are some commonly asked questions
Can this be made with bone-in chicken?
Yes, you can make this Baked Honey Garlic Chicken with bone-in chicken breasts. Just increase the cooking time to about 45 minutes since it takes much longer to cook bone-in rather than boneless.
How long to bake chicken breast?
When baking boneless chicken breasts, I like to cook at 400 degrees for about 25-30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
What pan do you recommend for this recipe?
I really love this baking pan. It is so versatile & works great for almost all my baked recipes like cookies, this chicken & so much more.
How do you store Baked Honey Garlic Chicken?
Make sure to wrap up any remaining chicken you aren’t going to eat & get it refrigerated within an hour. This is the best practice for reducing any bacteria from growing. Place the chicken in an airtight container & label it with the date. Keep refrigerated until ready to enjoy again. Use within 3-4 days.
HOW DO YOU MAKE Baked Honey Garlic Chicken?
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with heavy duty foil – set aside.
- Add chicken breasts & oil in a large skillet & brown the chicken for 2-3 minutes on each side over medium heat.
- Transfer chicken to prepared baking sheet.
- Combine chicken broth, mustard, honey, minced garlic & lemon pepper in a small saucepan & heat over med.
- Bring sauce to a boil & then simmer 5 min.
- Brush sauce over the top of the chicken breasts.

What thermometer do you recommend?
I love this little digital meat thermometer. Not only is it inexpensive but lets me program it too. Plus I can monitor the temperature without having to remove the probe while the food is cooking.
Can this be made with chicken thighs?
Yes, what a great idea. Just reduce the heat to 375 & cook for 30 minutes. Because boneless chicken thighs are so small, you could also reduce the size of your baking pan. If you want to make bone-in chicken thighs, I recommend baking for 45-60 minutes, but just watch your temperature & remove once the chicken reaches 165 degrees. You don’t’ want to overcook the chicken as it will dry out.
Can baked chicken be frozen?
Yes it can. Place in an airtight container or zip-top bag & label with the date. Use within 1-2 months. To thaw, place in the refrigerator overnight.
What other ways can I use this chicken?
We sometimes like to dice the cooked chicken & place it on a bed of rice with some steamed broccoli. Then we drizzle the sauce over the top. It makes for a great dinner when tight on time while keeping things new.
Can this be made in a casserole dish?
Yes you can make this in a casserole dish. I really love this one because of the recent scares with the glass baking dishes exploding when cooking at high temps. For this reason I stick with metal or ceramic for baking dinner dishes like this one.
