Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie
Are you a smoothie person? We didn’t really jump on the bandwagon with the smoothies until we picked up one of those high speed Ninja blenders. They make it so simple when they cut through frozen fruit with such ease. I tried smoothies when we had a regular blender & I thought the thing was going to blow up. So now that I can make them with confidence I find myself tossing all sorts of things in there just to see what sort of new blend I can come up with. This month for the 12 Bloggers challenge the idea is fruit smoothies. So I created this UNBELIEVABLY delicious strawberry shortcake smoothie. Oh wow!! It’s absolutely packed with strawberry flavor & topped with some whipped cream & almonds. I have to say, it was a good thing that this recipe made 4 servings because the kids were all over this & I really didn’t want to share this one.
The secret with this smoothie- I added a little strawberry flavored cream cheese. It really gave a deeper strawberry flavor & took it from a breakfast only drink to something I would make as a dessert. But don’t worry- it was just a little bit. It’s still packed with nutritious ingredients so it can be enjoyed guilt free.
