What’s better than an easy slow cooker pork recipe? One that adds the deep flavor of Guinness for a Guinness Pulled Pork. A delicious easy family dinner that is perfect for this time of year right before St. Patrick’s Day. But really, it’s great all year long. I think this may be my new “go-to” pulled pork recipe! Oh & the sauce – It’s AMAZING!
Guinness Pulled Pork
This recipe is brought to you by the hubs – so I’m going to let Kevin take it from here!
92.4% of all men love and crave BBQ (I made that up but, I know it’s close). I can tell you that there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying every BBQ sauce you can get your hands on.
Recently my boss insisted that I go to a BBQ joint with him and after carefully considering the offer for about 6 seconds, I SAID YES! Once there, I spied something on the menu that said,” triple hit”. It was a sandwich made up of a hoagie roll brisket, sausage, and shredded pork, topped off with cole slaw. Everything was just right!
Now after living with a food blogger for many years, I have learned to NOT to dive right in. I am supposed to evaluate everything from the surface, food presentation, smell and taste. Really hard for a big dude with an appetite!
After having a few bites, I noticed a squeeze bottle on the table & the label read BBQ sauce. Always anxious to try BBQ sauces, I thought, “what could it hurt?”.
This is where the story get’s magical…this sauce was among the best I have ever had with a consistency almost like a jelly.
It is said if your meat is of good quality and a nice cut, properly cooked, you should really never need BBQ sauce. However, this sauce super enhanced the flavor of the meat.
I decided to buy some of the sauce and try it on some of my own meat selections at home.
Pulled Pork Recipes
We decided to do slow cooker pork ribs and a pork loin roast with Guinness. The result was just as amazing as the restaurant, so good! I feel that this is an effective way of measuring up your recipe with that of your favorite restaurant. The BBQ place was South Bay BBQ in Olympia and I’m sure they will ship you some BBQ sauce to try….
Guinness Pulled Pork
Ingredients
- 5 lbs pork sirloin tip roast mostly sold at Costco in a 4 pack of 2.5 ounce roasts
- 1- 12 ounce Guinness
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp minced onions
- salt/pepper to taste
- 12 oz your favorite BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Combine pork, Guinness, onions, garlic & seasonings to slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours
- *Note- all slow cookers cook differently - watch your time as you get close to that 6-7 hour mark. It may cook faster.
- You will know the meat is done when it falls apart when pierced with a fork
- Remove meat & shred in large bowl
- Add in bbq sauce - toss & serve on a bun
