It has been on my list of things to make & I just kept putting it off. I just kept bumping down on my list hoping the craving would go away – because they are ohhhhh so good.
But the craving didn’t go away. In fact, I just started craving cinnamon like crazy.
So I knew I just had to bite the bullet & do it. You know what? I’m oh so happy I did because they were DELICIOUS!! I enjoyed every bite & so did the family. Now I can share them all with you!
Here are some commonly asked questions
Can I use rapid yeast?
Yes, absolutely, that will work just fine. I usually use whatever I have on hand at the time.
Can I use a sugar substitute?
I have not personally tried it, so I can’t say how that would turn out. But if you would like to try it, I suggest a product that offers a 1:1 swap. Please let me know how it turns out.
Sugar Pretzel Bites
How many can this serve?
This recipe makes about 60-65 bites. So it is great for game day for our family of 5 with some leftover. But I have to say, it is hard to stop once you start eating them – so you might want more.
Oh……..I also made a cream cheese dip to go with them.
Ooooey-gooey yumminess overload is what that is!!!
Incredible!!! I’m already craving them again!

Can this recipe be doubled?
Absolutely! That is a lot of pretzel bites, but if you have a bunch of large appetites – this is great for doubling Just watch the size of the bowl, this does fill the mixer.
HOW DO YOU MAKE Cinnamon & Sugar Pretzel Bites?
- Preheat oven to 450°F.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper- set aside.
- Combine the milk into the mixer bowl and sprinkle the yeast over top.
- Add the corn syrup and stir gently with a fork. Allow yeast to bloom for 5-10 minutes.
- Once it is nice and foamy, it is ready. Add the flour and salt to the mixer.
- Knead the mixture with a dough hook until the dough comes together in one ball.
- Add more flour, a tablespoon at a time, as needed- the dough should be tacky- not sticky.
- Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and form it into a ball.
- Using a pastry cutter or butter knife- cut the dough ball into 60-65 equal pieces. The easiest way to do this is to quarter the ball of dough and continue quartering the pieces until you have about 65 bite-sized pieces.
- Fill a large stockpot with water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Carefully, add baking soda to the boiling water, just a little sprinkle at a time. CAUTION: IT WILL BOIL RAPIDLY.
- Place dough pieces into boiling water, about 10-15 at a time.
- Remove with a slotted spoon after 30 seconds.
- Place the boiled dough pieces on the prepared baking sheet and repeat until all bites have been boiled.
- Arrange all dough pieces so they are not touching.
- Bake for 7-9 minutes until the tops are browned.
What about the Cinnamon and Sugar Coating?
- In a small bowl, melt butter for the coating.
- Combine cinnamon & sugar to another small bowl.
- Remove bites from oven & immediately add several at a time to the bowl of melted butter and toss to coat. Then transfer the coated pieces to the cinnamon/sugar mixture to coat.
- Return to the baking sheet while you work on repeating the process with remaining bites.
HOW DO YOU MAKE the Cream Cheese Icing Dip?
- Combine confectioners sugar, cream cheese, butter and milk in the mixer bowl & beat until smooth.
- Store any unused dip in the refrigerator.
What is the best way to store leftover pretzel bites?
I find that refrigeration tends to make the sugar coating a bit soggy. This is also true with airtight containers.
So I like to place them in a paper sack closely loosely. Just keep them on the counter or in the pantry for up to 2 days. If you prefer, you can reheat in the microwave for a few seconds to make them soft again before serving.
