This Triple Chocolate Banana Bread is a chocolate lovers dream. Not only is it easy to make but you get 3 mini loaves out of this batter! Such a great way to use up those overripe bananas.
This time of year it seems that bananas are all the rage. Everyone is working with bananas in the kitchen because we are just not quite to berry season yet.
I’m no different. We always have at least 20 bananas in the freezer & a few bunches in the pantry too.
Guess there is no shortage of potassium in this house. I like to get creative & try to add a new banana recipe to my list whenever I can to keep things fresh around here.
So I came up with this Triple Chocolate Banana Bread that is a great addition to the list. I mean just hearing the words triple & chocolate in the same sentence will get my attention. Then add banana bread – something the whole family loves & I’m all in.

I decided to make 3 mini loaves because…well, I have not used my mini loaf pans very much & they are so much cuter than a regular loaf. They make fabulous gifts.
This was absolutely PERFECT with a little jar of hot fudge.
It’s truly chocolate overload & the family is already begging for more.
Here are some commonly asked questions
Can I make this into one large loaf instead?
Yes, Bake in a 9×5 loaf pan for 50-60 minutes or until toothpick test is clean & it is done in the middle. You can also loosely cover with foil the last 10 minutes of baking to avoid crispy edges.
Do I have to use both dark & semi-sweet chocolate chips?
Well, no, you don’t have to. It just won’t be triple chocolate banana bread anymore. But if you have a preference, you can definitely do that instead. Maybe even add in some white chocolate chips too.
Should I use salted or unsalted butter?
This is a personal choice. I happen to like salted butter, because it adds a bit more pop to flavors, and we tend to eat things on the saltier side here anyway. But you can use either one.
How many can this serve?
This will depend on how large or small you cut your pieces. However, you should be able to get 6-8 slices out of each loaf.

Can this recipe be doubled?
You can, and just divide between 6 loaf pans. Because they are mini pans, you can still fit them all in the oven at the same time.
HOW DO YOU MAKE Triple Chocolate Banana Bread?
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Spray 3 mini loaf pans with bakers joy or grease well & set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda & baking powder.
- In the mixer bowl, combine butter & sugars & beat until fluffy.
- Slowly stir in eggs & bananas.
- Add dry mixture & stir until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Divide evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake 45-50 minutes or until toothpick test is clean.
- Top with chocolate syrup or hot fudge if serving for dessert instead of breakfast.
What is the best way to store leftover chocolate banana bread?
The easiest way is to cover the baking pan with foil & store the loaves in the refrigerator. I don’t usually remove the loaves from the baking pan for serving since it just dirties more dishes.
Can I Freeze Banana Bread?
Yes, this freezes well. Just cool to room temperature & remove from the pans. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and then place in a zip-top bag for an added layer of protection. Label with the date & freeze for up to 3 months. Leave out at room temperature for 2-3 hours to thaw before serving.
