Something about Twinkies just brings back so many wonderful memories from childhood. Opening up my lunchbox & finding a Twinkie was a true highlight.
Of course- that really hasn’t changed. Walking into the pantry & seeing the boxes of them in there makes me happy. In fact- the other day the hubs came home with the chocolate-covered version.
He loves to surprise me with little treats & boy was I excited to see those in the bag.
Having Twinkies as the bottom layer- HEAVEN! You can’t go wrong with Twinkies!
I love this because the prep time is minimal!
Pop it in the freezer for a couple of hours to firm it all up & it’s ready to serve.
Common questions with this recipe?
Can I use cook & serve pudding with this recipe?
Yes – but please make sure it’s cooled before adding it on top of your Twinkies. Also, be sure to add extra chilling time.
Why do I have to freeze it before serving?
You want to be sure the pie is solid before trying to get it out of the pan. Otherwise, you will just have pudding slopped on top of twinkies. Which still tastes great – but you won’t have a pie. Be sure to thaw about 15 minutes before serving.
What pan do you use for this recipe?
I like this springform pan – found here.
Can I use a regular pan instead of a springform pan?
Yes – it’s just a whole lot easier to get the pieces out when you can take the sides off. Plus the one I linked to above is only $12, so very affordable. Plus when you have one, it gives you an excuse to make recipes like this cheesecake.

Twinkies Banana Cream Pie
Ingredients
- 3¾ cup 2% milk
- 10.2 ounces instant pudding banana – 3 boxes – 3.4oz pkg each
- 14 Twinkies
- 2 bananas
- 1 cup whipped topping thawed
- ½ cup slivered almonds
- ¼ cup toasted coconut
Instructions
- Start by combining your pudding mix & milk – whisk well & set aside to firm
- Using a 10″ spring form pan – line entire bottom of pan with Twinkies.
- I started by circling the outer edge & then filling in the center with as many Twinkies as I could fit in there.
- Slice bananas on top of Twinkies – spreading evenly
- Top with prepared pudding – spread evenly & make sure it’s sinking down into all the crevices.
- Spread whip cream on top. Whether you go all the way to the sides of the pan is optional. I chose to leave a small portion of the yellow pudding showing.
- Sprinkle slivered almonds over whip cream
- Add toasted coconut in the center portion. I added additional sprinkle of coconut on each piece when served.
- Place in freezer for several hours to firm up. Keep frozen until ready to serve so the pudding doesn’t soften the Twinkies too much.
- Enjoy!

I’m a little confused so you serve this Frozen ?? Wouldn’t the Twinkies like hard?
Gina Kleinworth says
They thaw pretty quickly – you can slice, plate and then serve about 30 minutes later if desired. It will soften – but you don’t want it soft when trying to remove it from the pan.
